Root and Immediate Mode functions

Mastercam provides two types of functions; Root and Immediate Mode.

Root functions cancel any existing active function before starting up. Immediate Mode functions interrupt a function, and when they have finished, they return to the function. An Immediate Mode command is a function that executes without first canceling the current function.

For example, when you are drawing a line and press [Alt+F1] to Zoom to fit, it does not close you out of the Create Line function. The Fit and Zoom functions in Mastercam’s View menu are examples of Immediate Mode functions.

By default, Immediate Mode functions are set to display in the Most Recently Used (MRU) toolbar. You can change the default using the Include immediate mode functions checkbox in the Screen property page (System Configuration).
