Dividing One Object by Faces of Objects


  • If you are dividing with faces, you can only select one object to divide.
  • The dividing faces can also be individual faces (not attached to open or closed objects). See Dividing an Object by Individual Faces.
  • When dividing by more than one face, all selected faces must be continuous.

Required Step 1

Pick one object (open or closed) to be divided. In this case, pick the magenta object. Press exit when the object is selected.pn1

Required Step 2

Set the Divide > By Object parameters as required and pick the face(s) of the object you wish to use as the dividing entity. (You can use the Selection Filter to enable you to select faces.) In this case, select the five continuous faces of the top surface of the blue object. Press exit when the faces are selected.

Important: The faces selected as the dividing tool must be continuous.pn2

Press OK  or Apply  in the Feature Guide to complete the function.

The object is divided into top and bottom sections, on either side of the dividing faces. To get a better view of the results of this function, move the blue object.
