Align option in Rapidform XOR

Align command roughly aligns one shell with another using common geometric features and performs fine alignment.

How to use Align command

Click Tools > Scan Tools > Align.

Click Moving under the Local Based On Auto Guess options and select all mesh data. Click the (Apply) button. The application automatically aligns selected scan data.

In case Auto Guess is not complete, you can manually align them.

Check the Local Based On Picked Point option. Select aligned meshes as Reference and the other mesh as Moving.

Manually pick corresponding points on meshes in Reference window and Moving window. To cancel the last picking, click Edit > Undo (Ctrl + Z). Click the (Apply) button to apply your manul alignment.

Finally, to apply Global And Fine alignment, select all meshses as Moving and click the (Next Stage) button.

Click Avg.Deviation in the Accuracy Analyzer ™ pane to confirm the deivation among meshes. If you satisfy the result, click OK. If you need to align again click the (Previous Stage) button.

Note

You can see each deviation and histogram of a mesh by selecting a entity in the Entity Thumbnail pane.

Options in Detail

l Global And Fine – Aligns selected scan data as exactly as possible using the overlapped regions. If you want to fix the position of certain scan shots, click the Reference button and select scan shots. If it is no matter to move the position, click the Moving button and select scan shots. All scan shots can be included in the Moving group. If you want to align with only partial areas of scan data, click the Partial button and select Poly-Vertex, Region or Region Group.

l Global Option – Defines options during Global and Fine registering.

Sampling Ratio – 1/1, 1/4, 1/9, 1/16, 1/25, 1/36, 1/49 and 1/64. If you are dealing with a large data set, you may sample it. Doing this, the registration result won’t be sacrificed, but the processing time greatly decreases.

Max. Iteration Count – you can input a value that will limit the number of times the registration iterates.

Apply Only Small Transform – The entire overlapped region is considered while assuming that the initial alignment is already well done. It is recommended to check this option if there are few geometric features in the overlapped region.

Do Not Align Between Moving Object – If checked, the alignment is performed between the Reference goup and Moving group only.

l Constraint Options – You can fix the translation or rotation of X,Y, Z in the Moving entities.

l Update View & Histogram – If checked, during each iteration, the Model View and the Histogram are updated in real-time and the registration result can be seen on screen. If this option is checked, the operation time becomes longer.

l Local Based On Auto Guess – If you click the (Apply) button, the application automatically aligns scan shots. If you want to fix the position of certain scan shots, click the Reference button and select scan shots. If it is no matter to move the position, click the Moving button and select scan shots. All scan shots can be included in the Moving group.
l Local Based On Picked Point – This option can be used when you fail to align using Local Based On Auto Guess option or just perform alignment manually by picking the correspond positions. Select scan shot(s) to be Reference and Moving. Pick the correspond point in the Reference window and Moving window. To cancel the last picking point, use Undo (Ctrl + Z).
